Walking in God's grace and sharing His love with families in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Our Story

In August of 2007, a small group of women gathered together to discuss creating a ministry to address the unique needs of families with children in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). After much prayer along with invaluable input from former NICU mothers, gift bags were created and the Footprints Ministry was born.

Heeding the call to “bloom where you’re planted”, Footprints began serving families at Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery, Alabama. Shortly after, the ministry began providing baskets to families with children in Montgomery’s Baptist Medical Center East.

Since that small beginning, Footprints Ministry has expanded greatly and is now distributing over 3,000 gift bags per year through chapters in Montgomery, Birmingham, Huntsville and Mobile, Alabama as well as their first out-of-state chapter in Columbia, Tennessee.

Footprints is unique in that the sobering reality that calls for them to expand distribution of their much-needed Footprints Ministry gift bags is coupled with the unspeakable joy that comes from the opportunity to minister to an ever-increasing number of NICU families through prayer and tangible support during this difficult time in their lives.

While any time in the NICU can be hard, Footprints understands that holidays can be especially trying for NICU families. That’s why they take special care to make seasonal visits during Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

The ultimate goal of Footprints Ministry is to share the love of Christ with NICU families in such a way that each and every family is strengthened, comforted and reminded that they are not alone on their NICU journey.

The Lord has done great things for us and we are filled with joy! Psalm 126:3
